The Summer of Puffins
I’ve decided that last summer (2011) was the summer of Puffins. Chocolate/peanut butter Puffins and Cinnamon Puffins. The summer of Thursday student discounts at Sunflower Market and trying to keep my ragtop Cabriolet working. The summer of fun trips to meet athletes’ families and being exhausted in that nice office at BYU. The summer of barely finishing one degree before scrambling to figure out where to obtain the next.
This summer is going to be different. I’m already thinking about it. I’m going to try and make it even better. Healthier. Patienter. Productiver. Even more friendful.
For some reason I’m meant to be in Provo this summer. Some strong reason. I’m jacking up my personal life in order to follow this prompting. I hope I’m not just being dramatic and grass-is-greener-y in order to force my reliance on serendipity (read divine cooperation).
Instead of reading a scripture tonight (I try to maintain membership in the Wimpy Verse Club), I listened to that Melanesian choir song, “Jisas Yu Holem Blong Me” song from The Thin Red Line. I felt that feelingy thing I feel which keeps me a Theist against all odds.
I think I’ll write a sketch about that.
I think I’m going to get a new guitar, even though my nervous system is still recovering from the oh-sorry-about-the-misunderstanding-but-give-us-FOURHUNDREDDOLLARS emergency room bill out of nowhere.
I was going to spend the money on some massage therapy for my busted up body, but……….. maybe a hollowbody electric would heal it even faster.
As for my broken jackass heart, I’m hoping Yeshua can give me some tech support on that one.
